About James Wedmore

James Wedmore is an introvert from Laguna Beach, CA who has spent the past 8 years teaching online entrepreneurs how to leverage the power of online video and YouTube with such courses and programs like Video Traffic Academy and 48Hr Film School.

Starting in 2016, he made a massive shift to focus on a big gap that he saw missing in the marketplace: The Mindset of Entrepreneurs.  He launched a podcast (Mind Your Business) and a new flagship program (Business By Design) to help other content creators, authors, and coaches thrive online.

On this podcast, James Wedmore explains why you should show up exactly as you are in order to form the best connections with your audience. He also encourages you to be more confident with who you are in your business marketing. Your business is a direct reflection of you and the work you’ve done on yourself.

James works with entrepreneurs to help them scale their businesses to multiple 6 and 7 figure businesses. But he encourages us all not to only think of our business in terms of the money we’re bringing in, because money isn’t an indication of our worth. Money is simply an indication of how many people we’re helping.

We talk about the most valuable business skills and how you can market your services so it doesn’t feel sleazy. This, according to James, cannot happen if you’re truly trying to help people. Marketing is just the tool you’re using to sell your products. James encourages you to reframe your approach to marketing and sales so you feel great when selling your services.

James also talks about some of the psychological reasons why your nutrition clients are reluctant to make the changes recommended to them. Not only can it be scary to make a change, but it can also be painful as well. That’s one of the reasons James is passionate about every person seeking out mentors and guides to show us what we don’t already know, and to help us make those changes more painlessly.

Some of the other crucial things we talk about in this episode are why you truly need to choose a niche for your business. When you become a leading expert in your chosen niche, you’re going to make more sales. Lastly, James explains how you can market your group products by talking to only one person in your messaging.

What’s stopping you from taking action to grow your business? Have you nailed your niche yet? Let me know in the comments below!

QUOTES

“This whole concept that where you are right now in your life, even if it’s somewhere you don’t like, what if where you are is exactly where you need to be because it’s preparing you for what you want?” (9:52)

“The more we begin to understand where our audience is at a core deep level, and what will motivate them to change, the more we’re able to help them. If you’re unwilling to do that, that’s where you’re being slimy.” (28:07)

“Business isn’t always easy, but it can be simple.” (42:09)

Most business advice assumes everyone should sell, lead, and grow the same way. They shouldn’t.

Your CEO Type helps you see where you create the most value, how you make decisions, and which work fits you best.

The goal isn’t to remove you from the business. It’s to keep you focused on the work where your expertise matters most and build the rest on purpose, so growth doesn’t require more of your time.
