Nicole is The Period Girl. She’s a women’s health coach who helps women in their 20’s and 30’s reclaim their hormone health naturally. Nicole shares her early struggle with her own period and why this spurred her to start her own business.
Nicole explains what the first signs of a hormonal imbalance are. From missed periods to heavy bleeding (more than 90mL a day), there are so many signs that something is wrong. Nicole talks about what hormonal causes can contribute to our period issues.
We often talk about the role that cortisol plays in our bodies. It should be no surprise that it affects our periods, too. When cortisol, the stress hormone, is high, we’re more likely to have irregular periods.
Have anyone ever asked you if you’re on your period because of the way you’re acting? You’re not alone – so many women face mood changes when their hormones fluctuate. But hormonal mood changes are completely normal – it’s time to reframe the way we think about our hormones.
Nicole recommends tracking your menstrual cycle at all times. Your mood, when and how much you bleed, and what your cervical fluid looks like. It all contributes to a picture of your total health. Tracking will also show when you’re ovulating – something that is vital for a woman’s health.
Nicole explains what a normal menstrual cycle should look like. From how long it lasts to how much you should bleed, each detour from the norm can be a tell-tale sign of health problems. Nicole shares a few ways in which you can accurately track your menstrual cycle.
What method will you use to track your menstrual cycle? How can you check in with your emotions during your period? Let me know in the comments below!

“We should be engaged in a conversation with our bodies and understanding that ovulation and having a regular period is a crucial part of your overall health and that is a sign of optimal health when it’s all happening consistently.” (36:15)
“When we have this kind of self-knowledge, I think that it completely takes the mystery out of how our bodies work and it empowers us on a level that we likely never even thought was possible.” (58:33)

Most business advice assumes everyone should sell, lead, and grow the same way. They shouldn’t.

The goal isn’t to remove you from the business. It’s to keep you focused on the work where your expertise matters most and build the rest on purpose, so growth doesn’t require more of your time.
